This is how Google Docs is putting Grammarly's AI to the test.

At its IO event in May, Google announced a comprehensive set of artificial intelligence advancements for Workspace. These advanced functions are now available as Google Duet, with one in particular standing out as a threat to Grammarly's dominance in AI proofreading.

Google Proofread goes much beyond the standard spelling and grammatical check that comes with Google Docs. It provides alternative wording for the document's context, giving dynamic or formal alternatives.


Proofreading also looks at sentence length, as a shorter message is typically more effective. You may come across a suggestion to break up big sentences to make them easier to understand. It also serves as a reminder to employ an active voice, which is a writing word for speaking plainly and avoiding convoluted terminology.
