Release date and price projections for the iPhone 15, as well as other information

Despite how fantastic the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are, they have both been available for a few months at this time, and the iPhone 15 is already the subject of many rumors. However, since Apple often makes iPhone announcements in the fall, we still have a few months before the iPhone 15 variants are released. In other words, there is still plenty of time for further rumors to spread, which they will.

For your convenience, we've compiled all of the news and rumors about the iPhone 15 in one spot, but keep in mind that they are all still just rumors. Everything is provisional until Apple declares it to be so in a formal statement. It's awful if you enjoy surprises because many of the rumors still offer us a general notion of what to anticipate each year. This is what we currently know about the iPhone 15!

iPhone 15: models

The iPhone small was discontinued once the iPhone 14 was released, despite the fact that Apple introduced it with the iPhone 12 lineup and continued to use it with the iPhone 13 series. The normal iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro retained their former 6.1-inch sizes, while the bigger iPhone 14 Plus replaced it, increasing the screen size from 5.4 inches to a huge 6.7 inches (the same as the iPhone 14 Pro Max).

With the iPhone 15 series, which includes the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, it is anticipated that Apple would maintain this practice. This time, instead of the iPhone 14's 6.1-inch display, the regular iPhone 15 is anticipated to have a 6.2-inch display. Other smartphones, such Apple the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, are anticipated to maintain their previous screen sizes. For the iPhone 15 Pro, this translates to a 6.1-inch screen and 6.7 inches for the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max may have a different moniker, though. There are suspicions that the name "Pro Max" may be changed to "Ultra" to be more in line with the Apple Watch Ultra.

Apple enthusiasts hoping for a significant overhaul of the iPhone may be let down by the iPhone 15, which could largely resemble the iPhone 14. Though the display will stay flat, there is a suggestion from a leaker going by the handle ShrimpApplePro that the iPhone 15 Pro design may be slightly different, with slimmer bezels and curved edges.

ShrimpApplePro confirmed the possibility of reduced bezels in early March by tweeting a little video clip dubbed "the real-life video of the front glass panel of the iPhone 15 series."

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are most likely to have the middle panel and the leftmost panel, respectively. Both appear to feature bezels that are substantially smaller than those of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max they succeeded. The display panel for the standard iPhone 15 is most likely on the rightmost panel, which has a somewhat thicker bezel. The video also demonstrates that the Dynamic Island will be available for all iPhone 15 models.

IceUniverse, a Twitter user, claims that the new, ultra-thin bezel on the iPhone 15 Pro Max will also set records. The iPhone 15 Pro may have a 1.55mm bezel, which would be substantially narrower than the iPhone 14 Pro Max's 2.17mm bezel, which holds the current record at 1.81mm. If this is accurate, the iPhone 15 Pro Max would feature one of the tiniest bezels on a smartphone to date. Even the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23 have a 1.95mm bezel.

Previously only available on the iPhone 14 Pro models, Apple appears to be bringing the Dynamic Island pill-and-hole cutout to all iPhone 15 models. How the forthcoming iPhone 15 would seem with a Dynamic Island is depicted in a 9to5Mac render.

However, according to leaker yeux1122, the 120Hz ProMotion display will still only be available on the more expensive iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, making it increasingly difficult to justify keeping the ordinary iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus's refresh rate at 60Hz. Display analyst Ross Young claims that the 120Hz refresh rate display won't be available on all iPhone models until at least 2025, according to a report from Tom's Guide. Apple will most likely continue to use a 60Hz LTPS display in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus for the ensuing two years.

Even though not all Android phones have 120Hz refresh rates, the more cheap versions usually have up to 90Hz refresh rates, which is still an increase above the 60Hz refresh rates that Apple seems to be staying with for the iPhone models that aren't Pro. Users appreciate improved scrolling, responsiveness, and overall quality thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate.

According to a another claim, the iPhone 15 may instead use haptic, solid-state power and volume buttons in instead of the physical ones. Similar to the iPhone 7 Home button, this would function similarly. Essentially, it would employ haptic feedback to simulate how hitting a button would feel rather than physically depressing when pressed.

An iPhone 15 Pro leak from Twitter user ShrimpApplePro, which is based on leaked CAD images, suggests that the volume buttons will change to a single, elongated button rather than two separate ones. The mute switch will also become a single button instead of a toggle, which you would press to turn the ringer on or off. However, it appears that the regular iPhone 15 models will still have the mute switch instead of a button and two separate volume buttons instead of a single volume rocker.

iPhone 15: battery, charging, and USB-C

In an effort to limit e-waste, European regulations require a standard charger for all electronics, including the iPhone. Apple's deadline to move to USB-C and abandon Lightning is 2024, but it may be able to get a head start by converting the iPhone 15 to USB-C in 2023. Given the law, it is very plausible, although Apple might wait until 2024 as well.

Regulations in Europe demand a common charger for all electronics, including the iPhone, in an effort to reduce e-waste. Apple has set a 2024 target for switching to USB-C and getting rid of Lightning, but it might be able to get an early start by making the iPhone 15 USB-C compatible in 2023. It is extremely likely given the law, though Apple might hold off until 2024 as well.

The EU's decision is supported by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who stated in mid-November that his "latest survey indicates all 2H23 new iPhones will abandon Lightning and change to USB-C."

iPhone 15 Ultra rumors

There have been various reports up to this point that claim Apple will unveil a new "iPhone 15 Ultra" in place of the "Pro Max" designation for the iPhone 15 series. However, this reported iPhone 15 Ultra is more than just a moniker.

The iPhone 15 Ultra would reportedly include a titanium frame rather than a stainless steel one, making it more expensive. According to rumors, the iPhone 15 Ultra would start at $1,200 or $1,300, which would be reasonable if the frame is constructed of titanium. As an illustration, Apple does charge more for a titanium Apple Watch than a stainless steel one, and there is a sizable premium over the standard aluminum one. Additionally, titanium would be stronger, more corrosion-resistant, and lighter than stainless steel. What an iPhone 15 Ultra would look like is depicted in the concept rendering below, and it is rather amazing.

iPhone 15: release date and price

If Apple adheres to its customary iPhone launch timetable, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro should be unveiled sometime in September 2023. On Wednesday, September 13, Apple may have an event for the iPhone 15 according to the most recent story on 9to5Mac.
