The announcement comes from today's Sonic Central stream, which revealed a slew of Sonic-related updates. The presentation concluded with a part including new Sonic Superstars video and a brief developer interview. Fans expected the showcase to disclose the game's official release date, however this did not occur. Sega's big news instead came in the form of DLC.
It's unclear how the LegoDLC works, but it received a fantastic trailer during the showcase. The video depicts a full stop-motion battle between Lego Sonic and Eggman, but it does not appear to be gameplay footage.
All we really know for sure is that preordering the game, which was previously revealed, allows gamers to acquire a Lego Eggman skin. Otherwise, we'll have to wait till the full scope of the collaboration is revealed.
The rest of the Sonic Central stream also lacked new announcements. We got a new trailer for Sonic Origins Plus, which is out today, as well as a refresher on Sonic Frontiers' birthday DLC, which is also out today. Otherwise, the program was focused on corporate relationships and products, with announcements about Sonic-themed Crocs, guitars, toys, and more.
Sonic Superstars will still be released this fall on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
